[C38] Starter Solonoid

Bill: I think you have to take the starter off, determine the manufacturer(Hitachi maybe) and proceed from there. The block is Kabuta so thats why i guessed at Hitachi.

       My starter suffered as a result of a previous sail water leak from the exhaust manifold located above it.  I had my starter rebuilt by a local auto electric shop where they replaced my solenoid, starter works fine.  I believe the marine solenoid should be a sealed type for no spark hazard.

  Anyone know of an automotive replacement for the starter solonoid?  Universal #5424/M30.  I had read somewhere that the part from Universal was very expensive.
