Dear C38list:
The Schaefer jibsheet footblocks on Discreet charm are hurtin'. The
bushings have deformed, which causes the sheave to bind and freeze on the
heavy SS axle.
I have had them apart and see that one course would be to find a
machine shop that would push out and replace the bushings. This would take
a day or so of messing about to find the right machine shop; Ill bet it
would cost $50 bucks or more per block.
An alternative seems to be Garhauer's FB-04SB, length 8" width 3
3/4", bolt diameter 3/8", height 1 1/8", cost $104.79
Ill be that I would have to redrill the bolt holes with this option. Not
fun on the port side where the refrigerator compressor has been mounted
right under the rail and the foot block. Ill probably have to drop the
compressor to redrill the footblock bolt pattern.
Ive emailed Catalina but no response yet. The Schaefer
replacements cost lots more than the Garhauer ones.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Don
