I have purchased many sails from Charlie O'Leary of Sinbad Sails, the first
being in 1978 or 1979. Good sails, good prices, great service. His loft
used to be next door to the late Sid Blinder's (the wonderful co-owner of
the C38 "Superstar") Sabot shop, and they spent a lot of time together and
likely discussed squeezing out a little more performance from the C38.

HI, All,
I purchased my mainsail from Sinbad Sails. I had it made to my
specifications, and it works beautifully. Saturday did a trip down the
coast at 6.6-7.8 kts non-spin. It has no shelf, and I think 4 battens the
gentleman put a longer than normal batten at the top to give me a fuller
roach, for more drive and a bit more sail area down wind. I think the
measurements are on the website. We got a 140, but I think a 135, like the
boat was intended to use for mid range (10-15kts) would work a bit easier
without as much winch load (if youre a racer, ignore this statement).
Sinbad also does great work. The fittings are really well seated, and the
stitching is top notch. Great to work with and helped me figure out how to
set the sail correctly. At that time I still needed some more mast tuning
(I am an amatuer), so he made a few recommendations on that as well. He was
right!!

The foil on JACE is a number 6 if I remember right, on a profurl which I
did not change, but did get overhauled. It works great.

For general information, I think the foot is 11'9" and the luff is 49'
on the normal sail. Ulman makes (made?) LOTS of CAT 38 sails as well.

We still do need an association commodore. I am not a racer, so I think
someone who has more interest in racing would be great, and would know how
to keep the spirit up for the association.

Regards,
Les H
