[C38] catalina 38 Delivery

I have to agree with the previous comments. We go from the Columbia
river bar to BC and the seattle area a lot and if the weather is bad it
is ussally really bad and you cant get in any where because if one bar
is closed they all are and you are committed to staying out and making
it to the straits. I have a couple of captians he might want to hire.

Shane St Clair-971-129-5797 www.rivercitysailing.com, Shane has a lot of
experience as a delivery captain and actually sailed to Hawaii on a 18
ft Catalina when he was 16 (he said he will never do that again). Look
at the web site and see his bio.

Larry Bradnt- ASA instructor and delivery capt.Owns a Catalina 36 mark2
and has made west coast trips a lot. I have known Larry since when he
worked in the aviation business as a instructor for Rockwell Collins and
he gives every one in my family a ASA class every year (my safety net
for my family). The owner could kill two birds with one stone with Larry
get his ASA ratings and get the boat deliverd. His number is
503-358-5102.

This trip depending on the weather will take 6-8 days. The other option
is to put it on a truck. I wouldn't do the trip until the middle of July
unless I ran to the islands and back over. Tucking cost would be 6 grand
to seattle with about 1500 on each end for prep. I know this because I
am looking at a second 38 in southern CA at the moment.

Phil,
I am a bit concerned about this trip. Those are very difficult
waters.
Recently, just outside SF we had a 2 man crew washed off an Olson 40
which
is still drifting around the Pacific and a 31 footer rolled over and
sunk by
a sneaker wave killing both crew members. I am uncomfortable with the
thought of a novice skipper and pick-up crew making this trip. I would
suggest the owner find a GOOD professional delivery skipper and go along
to
learn. It may cost a bit more but having the owner and boat survive the
trip
is worth something. Members of our fleet are hard to come by so we do
not
want to lose any. Joe Launie, Macavity Commodore

He may be willing to pay crew airfare to San Francisco and from BC,
depending on the distance involved. If you are interested, you can
