[C38] death roll

I wonder if the "death roll" has anything to do with hull speed?   As we
know a displacement vessel will only go so fast...square root of length at
water-line times some number (1.2?).    No matter how much power you apply
boat's speed will not increase.  Death roll probably occurs from having too
much sail up..wonder if a sea anchor would slow down .  Probably better idea
to decrease sail.
