I was with Boat US but switched to Sea tow. With covering me for racing
and going up and down the coast from Portland to Canada with Boat US it
was costing me 960.00 a year for 140,000 dollar value on the boat. With
Sea tow for the same coverage it is 460.00 a year. Their under writer is
AIG. If I put a lower value on the boat the premium would be cheaper but
that was the value I wanted. If you decide to go with boat US I found

I've had great luck with BoatUS insurance. As I remember, they ask for
a
survey up front at owners expense but if they ever need one again, they
pay
for it. Never had to file a claim (knock on teak).

We have BoatUS with their towing insurance on the side. No complaints,

I'm with Boat US for insurance and towing. The one claim I have made was
handled by fone and email very quickly and promptly.. in fact their
check
was waiting at home when I got back from my cruise. They dealt direct
with
the yard as I was on the move on holiday.. can't praise them highly
enough.
Previously I was with Mariners General(Florida Office), and their
service
when required was also excellent--- the only reason I changed was that
boatUS was about $200 cheaper.
Re BoatUS and survey.... I spoke to their underwriting department and
they
were happy to go with the 3 year old survey that was done when I
purchased
the boat and copies of yard bills to demostrate that the work
recommended in
the survey had been done.

I was terminated by Farmers because I had 2 claims in 2 years. I
checked everyone and it was very difficult to find anyone to insure the
boat. They wanted everything from prior proof of insurance to proof of
no claims for 5 years, to a survey and the rates were in 700 to 1,200
range.
I have been a California AAA customer for 25 years. I have my house,
cars, and now boat with them. All they wanted was a picture of the boat
and they added it to the policy. So I would first check your homeowners
and car insurance companies. Oh yea, it was under $500 per year in
premiums for very full coverage.
