[C38] lower stays

Hi Suzanne, The Goose has two pairs of shorter stays, (shrouds as they're
called in the old country) one going to the deck forward of the mast and one
going to the deck aft of the mast. The middle pairs go up through the
spreaders.
She also has a pair of running backstays which attach half way between the
upper and lower shrouds and are hooked onto the toe rail via 4:1 reduction
block and tackles. I keep mine in line with the rear 3/4 - 1/4 of the third
window aft for basic cruising. There is some guidance on positioning of
these on the website - no doubt some of our more ardent racing members will
be able to give you more comprehensive advice on the use of these than I
can.
The attached picture (should the website allow it has good enough definition
to allow zooming in close enought to be able to see the set up.

Best Wishes to another non USA owner from another.
Mark.
