I have been reading about all the comments on generators I use a Honda
2000 and built a rack to put it in on the right side of the stern rail.
Attached are some photos for your review.

Hello Charles,

I was enjoying your reply to Max when I noticed you saying your Autohelm
was an electrical conservation issue.

You can reduce Autohelm current to a trickle by balancing the helm with
a
bungee cord. I burned up an Autohelm servo motor in rough seas once and
learned the hard way to use the bungee cord. Now, with the bungee cord
connected, the Autohelm motor only gets a little warm . Before I used
the
bungee cord, the motor could burn you if you touched it during rough
seas.

Try it, the bungee cord will take the Autohelm off of your villain list
of
energy hungry devices on your boat.

Hi Tom,I bought a honda gen at the boat show, would like to see photos
of
your install. Sounds like the perfect fix for the honda.

Thanks Bill Knowles

Hi,

I am having the boat yard haul Smooth Moves for the regular stuff. She
is a 1983 model and generally I am doing a bottom paint engine
maintenance (all 3 fluids) plus all the stuff the yard will find. Does
anyone have any advice on things to look for on a boat of this age?

Regards,

G!enn

Glen,

If nothing else, drop your rudder and inspect for pitting. Our rudder
was
marginal, and with us doing the Transpac, we did not want to take a
chance
on it. There is a new elliptical design that we are told will make it
more
responsive for downwind running.

If time allows, have a survey done to give you a checklist to work on.

Best regards,

Steve Peterson
