 I just got off the phone with the marine diesel engine supply house I spoke of and we have good news.
 
Their name is:

Starting today, the Catalina 38 group gets a 10% discount IF you tell them who you are and ASK for the discount.  They only charge actual shipping costs so this is a great deal.
 
But.....the deal gets better.
 
As I told you, they can get Kubota parts so we don't have to pay Universal prices.  An example is:
 
Fresh water pump, 5424        KUB15521-73035 assy pump    Kubota price        181.09
                                                   30041      pump assy                   Universal price    517.76
 
There are two different fresh water pumps that fit our Universal engines.  I only provided this example for comparison.  If you call, make sure you have either your serial number or you can fax the gasket so they can identify which pump you have.  The pumps for the M30 are somewhat less expensive than for the 5424.
 
These prices do not reflect our 10% discount but you will have to ask for the discount.  No one knows about our arrangement except for Rich Lloyd who is the owner.
 
As you can see from the above prices, piracy at sea isn't gone, just changed.  The Kubota price is awful but at least it beats what it could have been at the Universal price.  The Kubota price will be about $18 than the example plus shipping.  Don't forget to order a gasket if you buy one of these pumps.
 
I have been doing business with Yacht Power Products for many years and they are good people to do business with.  They actually specialize in marine generators and engine parts are only a small part of their business.
 
They show a breakdown of our pumps so if/when you call, you may find you can rebuild your old pump or have a local garage with the proper presses, etc., to do it for you and save some more money. We still get the 10% discount on any parts.

I am working on an agreement with a well known and respected marine diesel parts supplier to give our group discounts on engine parts.  Don't buy a fresh water pump or any other expensive parts for your engines until I get this done which should be as early as tonight.
 
For starters, this supplier can get Kubota pumps for us for less than half the list price of the same pump from Universal.  
 
If our negotiations work, we will also receive a special Catalina 38 group discount on any part, Universal, Kubota or any other from this supplier.
 
At the present time, this arrangement is for the Catalina 38 group only and is not confirmed yet.  If this discount arrangement can be worked out, our program will be considered a pilot program which could later be extended to other groups but nothing is concrete yet.
 
 This email is just a warning that if you are thinking about a new pump or any other ridiculously expensive engine part, wait until I get more information for you in the very near future.
