[C38] New Owner w/ CNG question

Hi Jay,

I don't know how much you are paying for a slip at the Kona Kai but I am
paying $351 for my slip at SWYC. Monthly dues are $95 so compared to the
marinas, it is a bargain plus all the fun of a yacht club. A C38 will fit
into a 36' slip at the club and over half of the slips are 36 footers and
they seem to turn over quickly. It took me only 1 1/2 years to get a slip.
It's something to consider. You seem to already know some of the members so
sponsorship would not be a problem. You can join as a sea trial member to
see if you like it and you get on the slip waiting list right away.

Happy Holidays,

Bob Miller

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the responses. Glad to talk with another local. I have seen
your boat listed in the local PHRF fleet records and was hoping you
still got out there occasionally. I don't know how competitive a C-38
can be in SD with the rating it has, light wind and all???

Yes, I know SWYC well. I know the crew of Sea Maiden pretty well and
used to sail with Bob Summers on his Morgan 27. Your clubhouse is
coming along great! I also currently crew primarily for Drew
Nedringhaus on Hown Dawg out of Silvergate.

We will be a Kona Kai for at least a few months going through the boat.
It has sat for the better part of 4 years and needs a good going
through. A good way to learn the boat.

I'll give you a call after the new year when we are settled in.

Thanks!.....................Jay

Jay,
Welcome to San Diego. I am the owner of "Bolero" hull #113. We are at
the
Southwestern YC which you might want to look into membership. PHRF
racing
is very active here. I don't race but am on the Race Committee at SWYC.
I
have a Force 10 propane stove and love it. Once you get down here give
me a
call and we will have lunch at the club and I will show you how the
stove is
rigged.

Jay,
Welcome aboard! You will find the instructions to make a propane
conversion on the C38 website. Look under "Tech-Tips" for much more as
well. Propane requires a different tank setup as well. Most of us hang a

tank over the rail (there are photos of that on the site as well).
When you get a chance, take a look at the Registry and please consider
drafting something up about you, your boat, and your ambitions!
All the best,
