Wow!
That seems a bit small? I think mine are at least 5/16.... I put a
stainless backing plate in on the cabin side when I re-installed them last
time. I also discovered some voids on the starboard side cabin roof that
needed tending to. Only problem with the backing plate is it interferes
with the cabin light fixture, but I feel more confident when I brace both
feet and haul on the mainsheet....
And I am with Les on getting to things while the big stuff is open! When I
took my blocks off two years ago, I was able for the first time to get all
the extra varnish off the cabin top in those nooks and crannies you just
cannot get to!
I plan on taking the whole cabin hatch off this Spring to install the Teflon
track that Phil set us on to. I will fill all the screw holes that hold the
teak on with epoxy and re-drill as they are really getting loose. Same goes
for the tabs for the dodger. I took this off a couple of years back and was
amazed at the dirt and mold under the teak....
Max,
Can you send your boat yard guy up my way? I have a bit of waxing coming
up!
All the best,
