Paul,

I wanted to do the same thing (moving winches and line stoppers inside the dodger) But came to the conclusion that Id leave them as they are and remove the dodger while racing and live with it while cruising. The main problem I had in trying to lay it out was coming up with a layout where I could lead lines to a new winch location more inboard, I wasnt able to come up with anything clean enough with out lots of turning blocks or deck organizers inside the dodger and as you know there just isnt enough room. In the end I went from Port outboard moving inboard Cunningham, Main Sheet, Vang and then Traveller, on starboard moving from outboard to inboard Fore Guy, Topping Lift and Traveller. Depending how your dodger is designed it might be simpler to add zippers or snaps to windows so you could open them to give you more room for the winch handle. Mine is curved so that doesnt work for me either. When I had my top off I wish I would have had the time to glass up the edges of the companion way hatch like youre doing. Maybe next year.

Removed the hatch today not a hard job just time. A tip buy a new screwdriver I did after tiring to take out the first screw. Also I'm going to re-drill the holes for the next size larger plugs on a drill press as I've already learned that lesson. I am glad I decided there was many years of accumulated dirt and an old wasp nest ,alas no hidden jewels or money. It seems one project always leads to another, I was going to re-arrange the deck rigging to make it more user friendly for single handing. The winches on the coach roof on Impulse were mounted to far out board to use when the dodger is up and it is always up also the line jammers are to far forward to reach from the cockpit so it's time for a change. I'd appreciate any tips ,hints and pictures from any one who has made changes.
