Try FSR from Davis .... has cleaned every stain I have encountered on gelcoat without the danger of softening it as with acetone or MEK. FSR is oxalic acid in a gel that clings to the surface (and doesnt run down your hand and arm).

Subject: [C38] exhaust stains

Anyone have any ideas of removing black exhaust stains from the stern? Tried about everything,Roll off with bronze wool seems to take it off. Is there anything less severe?
