Chuck,

I'm sure that you have already realized that you are going to get almost as many opinions as there are members. As for my opinion, I like the idea of having a burgee. I imagine that 2 colors would be cheaper than 3 but I like 3 better. Of the options presented I like #3 best. It only make sense if you can read it from both sides, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Thanks for pursuing this.

Subject: [C38] How about a Burgee?

Some of us have been "playing" with developing a C38 Association Burgee for years. Indeed, Joe L. and Steve O. had one made a couple of years back but it was shelved due to cost (Steve reports it was more than $50). I had my graphic designer nephew develop some ideas at the same time, but that too went on the shelf.

As the newly minted Vice Commodore, I figured I might just want to do something to earn the large salary that comes with this job... So, lets see if we can come up with a Burgee!

I propose a round of submissions by Association members that will enhance the eight options (attached) or propose your own design!
I will then get some pricing (I want to keep the cost below $30) We will then go through a round of voting to select our choice.
We then get to decide size and depending on the design, whether reading the reverse side is a problem and what it would cost to correct We will then accept orders from Association Members and will purchase and deliver the Burgees (there are real discounts for large orders).

Factors that affect cost:
1. Size (most burgees measure around 12x18 inches) 2. Number of colors used 3. Material 4. Sewing of edges 5. Reverse reading (so you read it from both sides)

How about it?

Vice Commodore
