[C38] How about a Burgee?

Charles,
Let me correct some of the errors regarding the prior burgee. I
developed it and spent several hundred dollars of my own money preparing
a design. A major factor affecting cost is the number of burgees ordered
at any one time. Since we were experimenting - we only ordered two and I
think I suggested $50 to recoup some of my set up costs. The big cost is
the original set-up by the burgee manufacturer. It is basic economics
that the more burgees you can spread that fixed cost over, the cheaper
the price. The major variables affecting price are: size, whether
double-sided (to read from both sides you make 2 burgees and sew them
togther), sun resistance of the pigments (huge amount of variablity in
sun tolerence with the cheap ones fading quick,) quality of material
and workmanship.
We never could get any interest in purchasing the burgee we
developed so it was dropped. Cost never came into it because we did not
know what the cost would be but were told it would drop significantly
for larger orders. If you want a burgee for under $30 I suggest you
order 25 of them. I have absolutely no interest in getting into this
loop again. Joe
