In all seriousness here, if you are going to use a Martec Prop be sure to
use their cotter pins etc.  We actually lost a prop during a race, IT FELL
OFF, it was a Martec two blade folding prop.  Crossed the finish line,
started the engine, put it in gear and NOTHING!  LOL  First thought we had
lost the transmission but we looked and the shaft was turning so, NO PROP.
LOL
 
It was late, we were at Catalina Island doing that "there and back" race,
the maintenance barge was closed for the winter so what was one to do?  Sail
it back to Long Beach and into the slip.  Good practice here.  LOL  Got
another prop from David Epstine, you will note that I mention David a lot,
there is a reason for this.  David is somewhat of a pack rat but a
commensurate gentleman, he saves everything and boy does it come in handy
when you are looking for parts etc.
 
Steve S, go with the 25 inch it'll surprise you.

I think I gave Steve S the best advice, get a 20 or 25 inch prop, don't put
it on until you are ready to head to the Trans Pac start line and then pull
out of the slip.  Just my thoughts here.  LOL

Steve S,  I have a Martec 16x14 at our San Diego home, which I'll be at in a
couple weeks.  It has been reconditioned twice, the last time with oversize
pins.  When I find it I'll send some more info.  I don't believe an 18" dia.
prop will clear the sked.  As I remember I measured 5/8" clearance tip to
sked.

Our boats specify a 15x13 anyone used a 16x14, question is will the 16
clear,  Im not planning on cruising with it just using it from the dock to
the start line for Transpac, then in HI switch out for the correct prop I
have on now.   Im unable to find any 15" used folding props that's why Im
wondering about the 16.    Also does anyone have a  Storm Trisail to sell or
know of anyone who does.  Thanks.
