[C38] Rusty Diesel

In my opinion, rust is ugly, dirty, and unwelcome on any good boat.

That being said, rust isn't going to destroy your engine, not any time soon
anyway. Surface rust actually makes a barrier which will slow further
corrosion. If you regularly wire brush your engine to a shine, you will
eventually have quite a bit of loss of iron.

Either prep and paint the engine which is preferable or leave it alone to
reduce the corrosion damage.

My Universal engine was a copper color very near to the color of a
Rustoleum spray can paint. The paint was a very close match to the
original color and held up without excessive preparation. Rustoleum paints
have a fish oil base which makes them possibly less durable to abrasion
than some paints but their corrosion prevention appears exceptional.

I'm sure there are other suitable paints out there and some of you may have
more expertise on this subject to share with the group but my experience
with Rustoleum using minimal surface preparation has been very satisfying.
