Fellow C38ers!

FYI some news and notes on the refit of INTEMPERANCE and our ongoing
adventures in the daysailing charter business.

With much strain and worry, the stuffing box gave in to a combination of
heat, PB blaster, and the biggest box-end wrench I've ever seen outside of
a Walker Evens photo. (We needed a block and tackle just to get the wrench
up to the boat!) Said stuffing box is now packed with some sort of
telflon/gortex/graphic super-stuffing and hopes are high when we put the
boat back in the water it will just drip a little.

My engine thru-hull valve died last year and I took that as a sign to
replace them all around. Opted for Forespar Marelon, and found out that
not only can you break them if you use a wrench, but you can break them
with your bare hands, or at least I can.

Rummaged around in the wrecked steel ketch two boats over and found a very
nice wire-luffed drifter:

Am having super light air wing and wing with our red asymm fantasies, and
hope to have photos soon!

Tipping and rolling works better if you thin the paint down and don't work
in the hot sun. INTEMPERANCE now has a fresh coat of super-bright white
instead of well-worn coat of oyster white.

I continue to be very pleased with the performance/price of RAKA epoxy.

And best of all, people are booking trips! In fact, I took two phone calls
while writing this note.

Of course Facebook "likes' and links to our website are helpful. If you
can come up with an excuse to link to sailingmontauk.com it's much
appreciated!

More photos soon!
