[C38] Knot meter location

I think the differences we are seeing in knot meter location might be the year of the boat. On my 1980 model the molding below the V berth insert is different from later models. The plug when lowered rests on a fiberglass molding not above it. The knot meter sender is directly below the v berth insert. I ASSuME that the later models, 1982 and later, have the sender below access panel in the floor directly in front of the head door.

 I guess Dan's a shoal draft model...

All the transducers on the fin keel model can be reached through the small inspection floorboard right in front of the head's door.

Steve,

On the C38 web there is a diagram from Catalina with the transducer location on both models. Check it out!
Hope this helps. Max

I can't say for sure either but I'm pretty sure that might be about right. I believe if you open the door at the base of the vee berth my speedometer is right there between that door and the fresh water tank.

I can't say it's a foot because I'm not near the boat, but my knot wheel is pretty close to the front of the fin.

Does anyone have any knowledge on the location of the knot meter on the centerline? Peregrine is in the yard having mushroom mounts removed and replaced with flush mounts. I instructed in writing to the yard along with a photo to place the knot meter on centerline 33% of the distance from the keel to the waterline entry point. They have placed it 1' in front of the keel and stated that is the perfect location and any further forward it will be subject to disturbance from the bow wave. (yes they went ahead without contacting me first) We are going to talk about it tomorrow morning and Im hoping someone has some definitive information I can use. Grrrr Thanks
