By the way, Larry, Hassle looks beautiful. I was on the race committee
for the Border Run last night and watched you cross the finish line. Nice to
see C38s racing. There were two others in the race but they finished
during the night. Did you get snagged in the kelp beds off Point Loma?

Subject: [C38] Starter removal
I'm trying to remove my starter to have it rebuilt. It doesn't crank the
engine very fast anymore. I usually have to have the battery switch on BOTH
to get enough power to start. I removed the alternator in hopes of getting
to the top nut on the starter. The nut is in such a tight spot and the way
the starter is shaped you can't get a straight shot at the nut. I tried to
get to it from behind the engine but the selenoid is in the way to use an
open end wrench. Has anyone been successful with some type of a deepwell
socket or maybe had a regular wrench bent to get to it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan #108.
