Patrick,
I'd suspect if your thinking about it and asking the question it is time.
Some of the tell tale signs are
If you find your boat heeling excessively when a puff hits, check your knot
meter. If you are not accelerating rapidly in the puffs, or if you seem to
be reefing earlier, or more frequently, your sail shape is no longer
efficient.
When the draft moves aft, due to stretching, age, and use, you will find
that you cant point as high as previously. Misshapen sails will create
increased and excessive heeling without a noticeable increase in boat speed.

Any thought on how to tell if it time to get a new jib or fix the old one?
Patrick
