[C38] Fw: This is an idea that we should address.

All,
I am not one for "RULES." I am the kind of skipper who likes to have
crew discover and experiment, which means mistakes are made that we all
learn from. I think we are at one of those learning moments on our
listserve. I am also certain after working with this group over the
years that we have a group of passionate folks here with a common
interest in our boats... but that does not mean we share the same
political viewpoints!
So lets agree that from here on, we are agreed this listserve is NOT a
place to specifically share our political views. We are here to share
and debate sailing and our wonderful boats! And that should be the
focus here! No more explicit discussions of political views.
At the same time, I think it would be impossible to restrict all
political observations. For example, we would never be able to talk
about AIS systems, bottom paint regulations, etc. without some
commentary leaking in! I think that is ok. As long as the theme is
focused on sailing and our boats!
So, here is the Rule that takes effect immediately.
1. No explicit political agendas are to be aired on our listserve.
2. Folks who violate this rule the first time will be contacted and
informed of our rule.
3. Folks who violate this rule the second time will no longer be able
to contribute to our discussion (the will be able to read, but not
contribute).
Anders and I will figure out how to post this rule within the joining
the listserve process so everyone knows coming in.
Because this is our new rule. We all should forgive and forget this
most recent conversation. No harm. No foul.
There are currently 2-3 messages regarding this discussion that I have
already embargoed. I will not allow them go out.
All the best,
Chuck Finn
