Here is the latest update on Hassle from Tamara and David.

Here is the latest update on Hassle.
I spoke with Larry briefly and he said today's winds where slower that yesterday.
They are however heading into a storm, and they are aware of it, and Hassle will prep with storm jib and tighten up the boat for closed hule sailing.
Larry said he should be in on friday or saturday.

Hassle called at 1100 PDT and I spoke to Adrian.

 

*	Their current position is 35 25.2N 127 09.4. Please see the map below. 
*	They discovered that they had a clogged fuel filter and can now start the engine again. 
*	They believe that they have about a ¼ tank of diesel left. They will reserve it for motoring into Long Beach. There does not appear to be a need to go out and meet them at this time. 
*	The light variable winds are from the North at about 5 knots. 
*	They are proceeding on a heading of 090. 
*	I advised them of the high winds they can expect starting late Wednesday and urged them to prepare storm sails, etc. 
*	I believe that they will be arriving Friday, if the weather pattern remains unchanged. 

 

 

 

 

Notes:

 

*         The indicated track is the rhumb line to Long Beach.

*         The wind barbs are as of this afternoon. 

*         The marks with dates reflect Hassle's actual location on that date.

*         The computer estimate of time to Long Beach is around 4 days.
