[C38] Rudder

Patrick,

The radial wheel drive is secured to the rudder post with a stainless steel bolt and then the drive unit has if I remember right four bolts tightening it up and the two small ones out board at the ends of the unit. If the drive has seperated then you can probably replace the bolt yourself by loosening up the tightening bolts, loosening the cables and then rotating the radial drive wheel into position and installing a new bolt through the rudder post. I think a few posts back Max includd a link to Edision with a blown up schematic of our systems.

Steve

Maybe rig a outboard and use it. I wouldn't want to try it using your engine
without the rudder though. There are alternate steering ways but getting
out of the slip may be a problem. If you have sea tow or such that's what I
would use. Are you taking on water through the quadrant?

While pulling out of slip last weekend, I lost control of "Blue eyes." She
bumped into boat next to me. Cut to the chase. Insurance damage fellow
determined that the "loss of control" stemmed from "quadrant separated from
the rudder stock." What that means is the rudder no workie. LOL.
My question to you nautical guys and gals, "Can I steer my boat to repair
facility with manual tiller?"
Anyone want to come along for the ride?
Patrick
