I also have a 2000 lb winch with remote that I carry in my 4X4 when off
road. I made a frame of angle steel that mounts to the bottom of the winch
and protrudes from the back with a large 2 1/8" keyhole so I can mount the
winch on my back trailer ball by dropping the plate over the trailer ball.
If I want to mount the winch to the front of the 4X4 I use a chain that I
connect to my front brush guard to temporarily hold the winch. With this
setup I can pull the 4x4 from either direction and when not in use the
winch stays in the SUV until needed.

This same arrangement would work on a sailboat mast by either putting a
half hitch or Prussic type line hitch around the base of the mast or
securing the winch to the tabernacle block plate if your mast has one.
Either way the winch would be totally removable leaving no holes etc. in
the mast or deck.

mount an off road vehicle winch to work on the mast? Not a permanent mount
just when needed run the wires out the hatch. I have a 2000 lbs with remote.
