Mark,

I replaced my sending unit a few years ago and as I remember it was just
an off the shelf unit and everything matched up fine, it was probably
the 14 inch as I put in the same location as the old one on the deep
side of the tank. That's a great offer on your winches, you might want
to rethink your offer and try posting on ebay you might be able to get
more.

Subject: [C38] Fuel Tank Gauge ?

Hey All...

I'm looking for anyone that might know what size and type of mechanical
fuel gauge to install on our C38 fuel tanks. I would like to install a
mechanical gauge directly into the tank itself, but I'm not sure what to
get.

I am currently looking at a Swingarm Mechanical Sending Unit from
Moeller Marine:
http://www.usaboatstore.com/moeller-swingarm-mechanical-sending-units.ht
m?feed=Froogle

I measured my tank at 12" on the shallow side and 14" on the deep side
-- I'm assuming that this is the stock 33 gal tank that we all probably
have(?) If so, does anyone have any pointers on finding the right sized
gauge to install in these tanks? I guess I would use a 14"
unit, and then just do some calibrating once I get it installed? And,
what about the bolt pattern, the current sending unit on the tank is a
5-bolt pattern, as is the item, I assume they'll match up?

Any recommendations?

ALSO, I just replaced my primary winches (the orig Lewmar 48 3-speeds)
with a set of Harken 53st yesterday. Can't wait to try them out... BUT
In the meantime, I am looking to sell the original winches. If anyone is
in need of parts or a replacement set of the original Lewmar 48 3-speeds
I'd let the PAIR go for $500 obo. I also have a set of Alloy Lewmar
48stor that are up for grabs as well. Both sets of winches can be found
here. http://c38momentous.blogspot.com/p/for-sale.html
I also have a very nice Islands 12' daysailer on an inspected trailer
that I'm trying to find a nice home for too. Just thought I'd through it
out there. It can be seen at the above link as well.

Thanx everybody,
