[C38] Sails

Thank you to All, who shared so much thought provoking information regarding
our sails dilemma.

 

It is obvious that many things are less expensive in the US including C38's
- wish we could sail over there and buy up big on boat things.

 

We have considered purchasing over the net as it would certainly be the
cheaper option... but what happens if things are not quite right?    And
could we then face our local sailmaker and ask him to assist??    We have
therefore asked him to make us a new Mainsail (the old one being on its last
legs) in CAL cloth and trial it before deciding on the Headsail. The
mainsail is relatively comparable in cost to o/s prices once import duty is
taken into account.  A CAL headsail however is ultimately almost $1500
dearer than o/s which has us a little confused.
