Kerry,
When you get ready to change the primaries, give me a shout. I can take you thru the whole process. The first thing you need is to call Craig Blazer at Harken. He is the electric winch guru and very helpful. Next, being in the bay area you need to talk to Scott Eason. You might want to look at Soozal which has 6 electric winches for racing.
With our 38s, the tricky thing is cutting out the overhead for the winches. I can send you photos so you know where to cut. It is not easy to figure. When you are going for the electric winch, get the right switch. It is the middle priced one which has a guard. My crew can lean up against the winch button all day and it does not affect it.
Some one raced with me the other day and was aboard for the first time. After 3 tacks he called the electric winches decadent. Joe

I don't have anything special, just the one winch on the starboard side which services the main sheet. There are two winches on the mast and use to be one winch on the boom. I'm impressed that Joe put a #44 on the cabin. I was thinking a smaller of the electric winches would be a benefit in the cabin top, but was thinking a #30 and for some reason the Harken winch with the low profile electric motor, caught my eye. We'll see what the first mate has to say about it. The crew is fighting anything electric, but what do they know. I'd like to move all my lines aft, but figure I'll attack that after I have a winch which will handle all I feed it.
I'll retire at the end of this year and am looking to change the main winches to electric. I've followed several strings regarding those installations. Seems a little cramped.
Thanks for letting me know what can be.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have been pondering re-purposing my #16 cabin top, self tailing winch. Before I go out and do something impulsive, I thought I'd ask the list which winch they have on their roof. #16st, #30st, electric, solar, kid power, etc?
Additionally, there was a thread a week or so ago, regarding assisting other sailors from the list during the America's Cup here in the bay. If whom ever was looking for help, still needs help, please contact me off list and I'll assist in anyway I can. littlebreeze at comcast.net

Subject: [C38] LED Bulbs
Hi all, I want to replace my bow and stern light bulbs with led's, anyone
have a good on line source for led's? The bulbs are festoon with the
inverted nipple and I have looked around but been unable to find them at a
reasonable price. Any references would be appreciated.
Best regards,
