Thanks for info.  

I wonder why a bilge pump would drain below the water line......if connection breaks....boat sinks.

I have an automatic in the bilge that drains at the stern above water line, manual in the cockpit that drains aft as well and a secondary manual located in the bilge that drains port aft outboard of where the engine control panel is located.

I've asked this question before but forgot/didn't understand the answer. 

Where should the auxillary/back pump be placed? 

Any reason not to put in the bilge? 

I understand that it would go one when the primary one went on but does that make a difference? 

The exit supposed to be off the stern above water level.  Correct?
