Hi Patrick,

I don't know if the sail would fit, but I suspect that the luff might
be too long, as it is the full size allowed by C38 class
rules.   Perhaps you might check with your local sailmaker, or your rigger.

Regards,

David

Patrick: I have had very good experiences with Lee Sails and found them
to be the least expensive by far. The distributor comes to your boat and
measures, then the sail arrives at your house.

I've bought several sails on ebay. It's hard to find a sail with a 48 or 49 foot luff and our LP of 24 foot. You may find some with a 45-47' luff and a foot of 22 or 23'. They come out to be a 130-135% with a slightly short hoist but they would work fine for cruising. It took 3 years of watching ebay before some really nice specifically C38 sails came up. I was lucky? and got a nice Hood tri- radial main, a UK tri-radial 150% jib and an ounce and a half spinnaker.

Does anyone know if I can buy a jib through ebay?

?

They sell sails but I wonder if I just need the measurement of the 3 sides and confirm that it is roller furling.

?

Then will it work?

?

Probably a dumb question but that's why I have you smart sailors

?

Thanks for your reply.

I've had a couple of responses from C-38 members who have sails for sale.

Hi Patrick. I was going to go with one of the offshore (foreign) sailmakers
to save some money but ended up with a local loft. The sail
is Dacron rather than a high tech fiber but it has all the other bells and
whistles (draft stripes, luff foam, UV for when furled, numbers, etc. and
best of all, it comes with ongoing service when there's a problem. Once I
got it on the boat the sailmaker came out and we tweaked the rig to
optimize the sail's performance and, after my first year with it there was
a chafe point in the bolt rope and the loft fixed it for free. All of this
was covered in the $2,200 initial price.
