[C38] Solid Vang / Main Halyard Question

Max,

When Sid originally ordered SuperStar, he 
specified two winches and five rope clutches on 
the deck (instead of on the mast).   Based on the 
upward forces that would be imposed on the deck 
by the upward tension of the halyards, a 
turnbuckle was added to connect the mast itself 
to the mast collar/deck.  This prevented the deck from lifting up.

I attached a photo showing the strut assembly on SuperStar.
