[C38] engine problem

I change the oil and fluids along with all the filters every season, I
should do it several times a season as the first race we do requires two
days of motoring to get to the start. We have a double racor filter
installed so that if one clogs we can switch to the other easily and
under power, This from a lesson learned while sailing. I am thinking of
plumbing our spare fuel pump in line with everything else too so that
should that fail it's the switching of a few valves and drama averted,
this also learned from a lesson sailing. Like Larry we moved our fuel
vent from the transom up the radar mast so that it sits about 8 feet off
the water, since doing that no problems with water in the fuel, another
lesson learned sailing. Ditto what Max said about learning to bleed
your fuel line that is a must and saved our butts on a very hairy
crossing with the wife and kids. I replaced the fresh water pump and a
word of caution be careful with removing the bolts, they are probably
corroded two of mine were and if you break one off inside the block a
simple project just turned into a major headache. Take is slow and
easy use lots of lubricating fluids, (DO NOT FORCE THEM) heat and light
tapping on the bolt to break it loose. I also keep a spare impeller
zip tied to the pump for use in an emergency, I believe there is a
retrofit for the pump cover that substitutes thumb screws for the
screwdriver type ones that it comes with, yes this also learned from a
lesson sailing. LOL

As a fact, that shouldn't even take more than 1.5 hrs. It is very easy,
and you should try to do it yourself.
Learning how to bleed the fuel lines is also a must for every sailboat
owner... You might need to do it in an emergency situation. Besides
that, You will also save some money!
