[C38] Swiftsure

Yes it's true we retired. Very frustrating race. We did great to the first mark at neah bay beating most of the fleet and all of our class. Then we sat for four hours in no wind trying to round as everyone caught up to us and we all rounded at the same time. Then to the finish we sailed well leaving our comp again well behind. Then the winds died and they all caught up and we all sat at race passage getting sucked back out to the straits. As we were being pulled towards the rocks the decision was anchor and wait to finish in nine hours to go the last twelve miles or retire. As I looked around at all my competitors and the time I owed them I figured there was no way in the twelve miles left and the 2-3 knots of wind we might see inside the harbor that we had any shot. Soooo we were quitter babies. 74th boat to retire out of the 105 that also did the same. Everyone else in our division except one boat either retired or dnf. Was fun when we were sailing though.
