[C38] Nationals

We are well aware there are many C38s "down south." In fact, that is
why the Nationals where held for decades down there! The problem became
that despite the number available.... the ones who were actually
willing to participate kept dwindling and dwindling..... To the point
where the 4-5 remaining stalwarts got tired of putting it on. We then
went through a number of years win NO Nationals! In fact, it took some
time to track down the Nationals Trophy!
When I became Commodore, one of my ambitions was to revitalize
Nationals. And I went where there was interest! So, for now, we will
continue to go where folks are willing to put in the hard work to get
one of these off the ground. And of course the Americas Cup
competition made SF a great place to start!
The larger game plan is to move Nationals yearly to regions who could
put together and maintain a Fleet.
If you folks in So. Cal. can put together a Fleet and perhaps run Fleet
races, I can guarantee you the Nationals will be coming your way as part
of a cycle! I am sure Joe M. would love it! And as I told the folks in
the Northeast, let me know how I can help!
By the way, I think it is great that we have four areas now interested!
