Steve, Your boat production is close to mine (312 vs 304). Do you have a very small screen at the end of your pickup tube, if so, get rid of it! You don't need it as you have this big prefilter on the suction side of the pump. It took me four years of discovery to find that turkey- replacing fuel pumps, filters etc, always in the wee hours of the morning motoring back from the Ensenada Race. This little screen would get plugged and shut the fuel system down. During the down time with no suction on the screen, it would clear itself and would run for maybe a couple hours or six hours. Since resolving that issue, I haven't had one fuel problem for maybe six years now.I love your Parker Filters- I have the same unit.Cheers, Steve O (304)

The one I replaced was the universal it lasted probably four years, before that were two cheap off brands that the yard put in. Didn’t know about the screen, do you twist the bottom of the pump off for access? From: Listserve [mailto:listserve-bounces at catalina38.org] On Behalf Of Max Soto

I have replaced 3 fuel pumps in the six years I’ve owned Peregrine (I have no idea why so many) this last time we just finished a 12 hour delivery from Victoria and the next day when I started the engine at the dock, the pump failed within 1 minute. Not wanting it to happen while cruising or at an inopportune time the following project. I installed a second fuel pump, two valves and a switch for current. Now with the turning of those two valves and a toggle of the switch the second fuel pump takes over. I’m having a plaque made up that shows the valve and switch positions and plan to mount it just above the fuel filters. Pretty sweet.
