Hi Chuck,
Kevin from Slider,
I just wanted to weigh in with the deck seam leak issue. I may have the same issue and I’d like to know, did you remove the aluminum toe rail prior to routing out the old caulk?
Your solution seems like a good alternative.
Thanks,
Kevin C.

There is a solution that is not all that hard! You can buy an
oscillating multifunction cutting tool from companies like Harbor
Freight for about $20. Get the grout cutting bit.
The seal between the toe rail (deck) and the hull is caulk. Use the
cutting tool to remove the caulk to maybe 1/4 to 3/8 in depth. (I did
this with a bent and sharpened old screwdriver, scraping the old caulk
out. But that was before I discovered the power tool!).
Buy a tube of 3M 5200 and CAREFULLY fill the groove, being sure to both
penetrate and fill the space. I taped off both the toe rail and the
hull to ensure my mess did not get everywhere. As you are applying the
caulk, have someone with a wet finger go along behind you to smooth the
bead.
5200 will seal just about anything and in a couple days will be ready to
go. You can do this while your boat is in the water.
Have fun!

There must be a leak somewhere between the hull & deck b/c we are getting water under the stbd settee. We only noticed because a couple of blocked weep holes in that locker kept the water from draining to the bilges, & the stuff stowed inside sat in it long enough to start rusting. We haven't established if the same thing happens when she is heeled to port.

My suggestion of never heeling her over that far might work when I am on board, but likely won't in the heat of battle. It certainly doesn't do anything to fix the problem.
