Your comments about West Marine are in order. I personally have met Randy Repass,the founder of West, and knew his father Herb before he passed. Herb was the founder of New England Ropes. Peggy Repass Herb's wife remains a member of our yacht club. 
I would suggest however that whenever you really want something if you need it within a few days it will be available or procured for you by West Marine and available in your time frame at a West store nearest to your location with no delivery cost to you. As This is an invaluable service to all Mariners they should expect to pay for it. Yes many prices are higher, the cost of good service. Amazon I'm sure is hurting them badly as they are everyone else.
