[C38] Catalina 38 Chainplates

I posed a chainplate question not too long ago and received one helpful tip.  I am going to try again anyway.  I have some leaking around my port aft lower shroud chainplate and started looking at the backup plate/bracket below the deck.  It looked like there was a bolt screwed up from below the deck through the backing bracket into the chainplate itself.  I removed the bolt but the chainplate doesn't seem to budge.  I am going to question Catalina Yachts about this, but does anyone on the list have an experience removing the shroud chainplates?
