[C38] Transmission Replacement

I still have the original atomic diesel but with a
rebuilt transmission HURTH(6 years old).   The
transmission is gone (NO FORWARD) and the boat yard
says the engine must be pulled to replace the
transmission.   Has Anyone replaced a transmission
without pulling the engine?  Thanks pam
