About 4 years ago, I notice white "smoke" coming from the exhaust of my Yanmar. I had the dealer service the engine to the tune of about $300 and went cruising. I didn't get very far before the engine overheated. My first thought was to check the raw cooling water supply. I disconnected the intake line at the strainer and tried to blow through it. It was completely blocked. I guess the white smoke was steam created by the heat exchanger. So I connected my inflatable boat bellows to it and pressed. It wouldn't press. Then I sat mightily on the bellows and something gave way and I was able to blow through the hose. The engine has run cool ever since.
