[C38] engine access. try door frame removal

       I am trying to get to the shift linkage on the engine to adjust the angle of the cable. When I shift into forward the control handle at the helm does not engage very easy and sometimes slips out. There is a plate on the engine block that holds the linkage but I can barely reach it to remove the bolts on the block. I looked at  removing the Teak but the area is too far aft and to the right of the engine to get access from the forward end of the engine. It is also down very low in that area.

Ken: First, try removing the teak frame that holds the access door in front of the Engine. This gives several more inches all around.DonKenneth M. Sutto wrote:

Next to the quarterberth is a small access opening which I can not get in to. I am pretty big in the shoulders and chest, (naturally a flat stomach!!!) and I am left handed. This makes it almost impossible to get access to the engine for me. How much of the side hole can I safetly cut out without any loss to the strength of the shell. Also what is the best way to cut the fiberglass out. I was planning tape the cut area, then mark the cut line on the tape and cut with a jigsaw. Then I have to figure out a new access panel.
