What is the best way to clear up the fog on are doggier. We have tried a few cleaning produce but nothing works. Any suggestions would be appreciated as it is only 18 months old.

Well it's done. I own a Catalina 38. We'll be sailing her to the
Bahamas this Winter. I hope she'll be good to us.

I'm a West Coast sailer, so all this skinny water stuff is pretty new
to me, and the idea of sailing over 12 feet of water for miles and
mile and miles is just plain weird. But the previous owner took her
to the Abacos several times, always had fun, and never got so stuck
he couldn't get himself unstuck. (His advice is if you're going to
push your luck on a shallow cut, do it slow and do it will the tide
    is rising!)

The boat's up to it. We'll soon see if I am!

My 38 is a shoal draft model and I keep it in Florida where the water is
"thin" but I've also sailed much of the Bahamas in a boat with over 6' of
draft and only rarely did we hit bottom. There is a lot of thin water in
the Bahamas but most places are easily reached with some prudence.

    Congrats!

    - as new owners of a beautiful Catalina 38 ft ourselves, soon to be re-named Shya Amanzi (Zulu for hit the water) and sailing out of Alameda, we could not be happier with our boat. Although we have only had her for a 2 months we are thrilled with her sailing perfomance and grace. Enjoy and keep us posted onyour trip!

Welcome to both of you new Catalina 38 owners. We hope you will join the
Catalina 38 International Association if you have not already done so.
This helps keep all our communications afloat. Those of you in colder
locations might be interested to hear of our race Sunday in Macavity
around an oil Platform 6 miles offshore. We had a spinnaker reach to the
Platform in 15 knots of breeze with a smooth sea and a close
reach, almost beat, back to the turning mark, a large bell buoy and a
beat to the finish. In a diverse 21 boat fleet we corrected to second.
The first place boat was a Hinkley 52 who flew a chute for the first
time in this race and beat us boat for boat by 2 minutes. We averaged
over 5 1/2 knots for the race and hit sevens close reaching under number
one genoa in 16 knots approaching the bell buoy.It was overcast and a
little chilly - air temperature was about 68. We had a crew of 5
including 2 couples and the old man driving. We flew our asymmetric
chute. The Catalina 38 can really move. Joe Launie C-38 Commodore, Santa
    Barbara, California
