[C38] mast height reply and Battery Question

My mast is down right now being painted, new wiring, rigging etc, the
yard charged me for a 55' mast, Not sure where the base rests in
relation to the waterline.   

On another note, I am considering replacing the house battery and am
looking for any suggestions, comments or opinions on types of batteries
and if anyone has done anything different besides just replacing batts
in the same storage area.  As Im sure everyone is aware the area under
the settee is limited in size Im curious as to how large a battery
others have been able to squeeze in the space.
