[C38] Companionway hatch wear

Subject: [C38] Companionway hatch wear
Companionway hatch wear has to be a common problem to some extent to all
Catalinas. Sand has entered the well in our deck that the hatch side
flanges ride on and worn both the well surface and, more noticeably, the
flanges of the hatch. Our hatch flanges are little more than 1/16" thick
now.
Has anyone tried to restore the material that has been lost? What sort of
fiberglass technique worked best?
