I agree with Les,
Stainless makes a very poor roll pin. Nickel in stainless has no spring
quality necessary to keep the pin in place. You should be able to find a
good high carbon roll pin just about anywhere if you don't mind coating it
with some grease or paint to preserve it.
On Les's bilge pump question, I have no answer about your bilge pump.
When my bilge pump finally quit, I upped my insurance and programmed 911 in
my speed dial on my hellphone. Just kidding, in Tampa Bay where we sail,
it's too shallow to sink anyway.
Our boat had a Whale when we got it and we rebuilt it some years ago with
parts we got from West.
