I commented before about my experience with my Yanmar 3GM30, but will repeat. My engine is rated at 27hp max at 3600rpm but 24hp continuous at 3600rpm. Its displacement is 1 litre.
I was overpropped with my folding Martec and could do 6.8 kts at 2800rpm, but I burned oil like crazy on a 100 hour old engine. I could do about 7 knts at 3600rpm. I repropped with a 3 blade Maxprop and now do only 6.2 kts at 2800 rpm but can get close to 7.5 knts at 3600 rpm. I have more potential speed but cruise slower.
However, let 2 months of slime build up on the bottom, even with a clean prop, my cruise speed drops to 5.7 knots.
BTW, I bought the Maxprop for better reverse power and hoped less prop walk. Well it gives much better reverse power AND much more prop walk. I believe the only way to get away from prop walk is to go to a Saildrive.

I have experienced more prop walk in reverse with a two bladed prop.
Wow, I wish I made the speed some of you make. I just repowered with a
Yanmar 3YM30 and I get about 6 knots at 3000 (it's a 3600 RPM engine). I
make about 5.5 at 2600. I get about the same speed as I did with my old
Universal M35 (although at lower RPM for the universal). I think I'm
burning less fuel, but not by too much. My boat is WAY overweight. I guess
that accounts for some of the speed difference.

Chapman's has a good discussion of prop walk. Primary cause is the angled
shaft; I'm not sure that the prop makes much difference. Our boat makes 6+
knots at 2000 rpm with a 2-blade folding prop.

The Mighty Quinn makes 5.5 kts at 2400 rpm with a two blade fixed prop (by
both of my GPS gadgets). My old Signet guages regularly told me something
higher and my Navman units calibrated out of the box agree with my GPS.
BTW, the bottom paint was new last year and I am in fresh water with almost
no bottom growth.
I am thinking of going to a 3 blade prop because I have heard it will reduce
"prop walk." Is that true?
