[C38] Listserve Digest, Vol 3, Issue 15; The Goose has proble ms

I would call CatalinaDirect. That is where I got my parts. If they have it
for the 36, they will have it for the 38 because all they do is send you a
roll of the stuff cut to the necessary length to reseal all of the windows.
I would like to point out though that you could probably get the rubber seal
that goes between the glass and frame from any good window shop that makes
storm windows (you may have a tough time finding the interior trim seal).
You could probably take one of the disassembled windows to them and have
them match up the seal. What I noticed about the weather-stripping that
came with the kit was that maybe it was actually for a thicker piece of
glass, or supposed to fit in a thinner channel. There wasn't a tight fit
with the weather-stripping itself, so I used a lot of sealant in the
glass/weather strip contact area and the weather strip/frame channel contact
area. To make sure I kept everything clean of adhesive, I preassembled all
of the windows, then covered all of the exposed surfaces with tape,
disassembled everything, then broke out the sealant and reassembled
everything.

Like I stated before, it wasn't a hard job, just time consuming. The
hardest part was removing any old adhesive/sealant from all of the mating
surfaces. I wanted everything nice and clean to get the best adherence of
the new sealant.

Sincerely,

I have leaking ports also, and I was going to work on this problem in
the Spring. However Catalina Direct only has a replacement kit for the
Catalina 34 and 36's and do not list anything for the C-38's. Also the
"new windows that fit over the outside" are not mentioned. Would
appreciate more info. from Les H. on these items.
