Patrick,

Yes and thank you.... I did respond yesterday... I addressed it to Phil in
error...sorry that you didn't get my reply. Below is the text...

Patrick,

Thanks for the comment and the advise about the Stayset X lines... I will
be purchasing a Catalina 38 later this year and will seriously consider a
change to an all rope halyard when the need arises...

Just as a comment... When my 'short list' for purchase was reduced to only
the Catalina 38, I joined this forum... It is a wealth of knowledge and
experience that I sincerely appreciate. It is obvious that this is a
passionate group of sailors who are dedicated the a fine boat, the Catalina
38.

Thanks to one and all for your comments and advice...

Happy sailing...

At your service,

Ron Zetterberg

    Patrick,

I do not have a suggestion nor advice in this. However, I do have a
query.... This is no small task so you must have determined that there is a
benefit for you in changing...

Could you elucidate me to what you have determined to be the advantage
in using an all rope halyard rather than a rope/cable? I have always
understood that the rope/cable is used in halyards because it stretches less
under load than an all rope halyard.

    Thanks....

any tips on changing from former cable to rope halyard to plain
rope/line?

I know I'll have to replace the pulley at the top of the mast because
the line is wider than the cable but it would cool to only have to go there
once.
      Patrick
