[C38] Keel Stub Wood Removal?

Dear C-38 owners

Our Catalina was made in 1982 and has had its wood removed in 1999 and the smile persists. The original keel was replaced with a 5' 2" shoal keel at that time. To drop the keel, electronically inspect the bolts for corrosion and re attach here in Australia cost about $800 to $1000 depending upon the issue of the keel bolts plus the haul out costs. Moreton Bay where she races is shallow so we do bump along from time to time but I believe the design is the issue. To get the join between the stub and the keel head to cement well together is difficult. In the end we have to chalk the tops of the bolts to keel with roving compressed under the nut washers to keep the bilge dry.

Cheers
