Well, one day and 16hrs left for the start of the 09 transpac race
CA-HI. One of our own is biting his nails getting ready to race his
Catalina 38 across the ocean. I think we should all give Larry, his crew
and his boat Hassle a toast(a wish for good winds and fun sled
running). They will be using transponders so we can track them during the
race. Larry's boat is one of the smallest boats in the fleet so he
should have a great handy cap. Getting ready for this race is no small
venture both in time and money and I applaud Larry for that. Larry and
Hassle have a good chance at winning this race on corrected time. Last
year's Pac cup a 20 year old cascade 36 (rain drop) from Portland Oregon
won first in and on corrected time with just two old guys from the rcyc
yacht club here. Well I race against a cascade 36 hear in Portland and I
know our 38s can do better. So let's raise our cups(full of rum) and
give Larry and Hassle a toast. (Keep the clean side up and the Dirty
side down and run like smoke and oakam).
